The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking witnesses and video footage following a serious injury collision in west Edmonton early this morning.

On Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., West Branch patrol officers responded to the report of a single-vehicle collision in the area of 87 Avenue and 147 Street. It was reported to police that a Hyundai Sonata sedan was travelling westbound on 87 Avenue approaching 147 Street when it crossed into the oncoming traffic lanes, mounted the median and struck a sign and a tree head on.

EMS responded, treated and transported the adult male driver and adult female passenger to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is now investigating and is asking any witnesses or citizens with dash camera or home security video of the crash to contact the police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
