For Immediate Release: 28-Feb-2025 @ 4:15 PM
MRU #: H24R038-2

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has concluded its investigation into the death of an infant in south Edmonton last December.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m. Southeast Branch patrol officers were called to a sudden death in the parking lot of shopping complex in the area of Parsons Rd SW and Ellerslie Rd SW. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased infant.

On Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on the male infant and determined the baby died prior to birth. The cause and manner of death were pending additional testing at the time.

The Medical Examiner and investigators have since determined the child’s death was non-criminal. As a result, no charges are expected, and the investigation is concluded.
