On Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. Northeast Branch Patrol responded to the report of a deceased male located in the area of 17 Street and Yellowhead Trail. Police determined the death to be suspicious, and EPS Homicide Section took over the investigation.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Wednesday, Mar. 5, 2025, and identified the deceased as Sukhvir Singh, 32. The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation. However, due to the totality of the circumstances, investigators believe Singh was murdered.
On Mar. 10, Manpreet Brar, 29, was arrested, and on Mar. 13, Gursimran Singh, 21, was arrested. Both men were charged with first degree murder and kidnapping in relation to Sukhvir Singh’s death. Canada-wide warrants have been issued for a third male, Lovepreet Sidhu, 27, for first degree murder and kidnapping in relation to the death. All three accused were known to the victim.
Sukhvir Singh was last seen alive in the evening hours of Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025 in the commercial area near Gateway Boulevard south of Whitemud Drive. Investigators are releasing the name and a photo of Singh in an attempt to prompt those who knew him or who have information about his whereabouts during the week of Feb. 24-28, 2025 to come forward to police. EPS Homicide detectives continue to investigate.
