Police investigating homicide in north central Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a homicide that took place in north central Edmonton yesterday morning.

Around 7:20 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Northwest Branch patrol responded to a weapons complaint at a residence in the area of 81 Street and 114 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located Morgan Cherish Taryn Giroux, 27, who was treated and transported to hospital by EMS, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

A female youth was taken into custody at the scene but was later released.

Earlier today, Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on Giroux and determined she died as a result of a stab wound. The manner of death is homicide.

EPS Homicide Section continues to investigate, and police are not looking for any suspects at this time.
