Autopsy complete, charge laid in southeast Edmonton death

The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has charged a 32-year-old Edmonton man in relation to the death of a woman in southeast Edmonton earlier this week.

On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., Southeast Branch patrol officers responded to a residence in the area of 3 Avenue and 42 Street SW on the report of a serious assault. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female suffering from life-threatening injuries. EMS responded and she was declared deceased on scene.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Officer completed an autopsy today, Friday, July 5, 2024, and determined the 33-year-old female died as a result of a stabbing. The manner of death is homicide.

The woman’s 32-year-old male partner, who was taken into custody shortly after her death, has since been charged with second degree murder.

To protect the privacy of multiple children related to both the victim and the accused who were in the home at the time of the assault, the EPS will not be releasing the names of the victim or the accused.

This homicide was a domestic violence incident.
