The lack of house numbers in back alleys has long plagued first responders in neighbourhoods throughout Edmonton. “As we all know, back alleys can be a bit of a maze sometimes,” says Cst Jeff McIsaac, with Northeast Division. “Having addresses displayed clearly on rear detached garages would decrease response times and reduce frustration for first responders and citizens alike.”
To help citizens participate, police are offering limited quantities of free numbers at the EPS Northeast, Downtown, Southeast, Southwest, West and Calder (12540-132 Avenue) community police stations. To get your free numbers, simply go to the nearest station and ask at the front counter, or look for the numbers displayed with public brochures and handouts on the wall. Just a reminder that face coverings are required at all EPS stations.
