This Is Who We Are - Neighbourhood Empowerment Team

Edmonton’s Neighbourhood Empowerment Team (NET) is a partnership of the Edmonton Police Service, City of Edmonton, The Family Centre and United Way of the Alberta Capital Region.

NET works with youth, residents, businesses and organizations to identify and address recurring safety concerns in the community.

A community safety liaison from the City of Edmonton and a youth liaison from The Family Centre are based in each of the six patrol divisions of Edmonton Police Service.

Our Goals

  • Provide a multidisciplinary approach to community safety through outreach, proactive problem-solving, and utilization of appropriate assets and partners.
  • Identify and mobilize stakeholders and residents to take part in tailored community safety strategies that respond to root causes of crime and disorder and reduce the demand for traditional police response.
  • Become the preferred conduit through which community safety issues are brought to the attention of those best positioned to address them.
  • Utilize partnership leading practices to strengthen collaboration and effectiveness of the NET partnership.
