Going through the criminal justice process may be a confusing and traumatic experience. CTSS staff and volunteer can support you to answer your questions, provide emotional support, provide information about criminal justice proceedings, and accompany you to court if you wish.
The Edmonton Police Service CTSS offers Court Orientation for adults that will assist complainants and witnesses in preparing for an upcoming trial or preliminary hearing.
Court Orientation and Mock Trial
This formal Court Orientation Class will familiarize victims and witnesses with court procedures, courtroom personnel and their roles, and offer ways to cope with the fears and concerns that many people experience. As well, the class offers victims/witnesses the opportunity to observe and/or participate in a Mock Trial. Our hope is to make victims and witnesses feel more comfortable when testifying in court. The duration of the class is approximately 2.5 hours.
