If you have become the victim of a crime or tragedy it can be frightening and disruptive. Remember, what you are feeling is perfectly normal and that these feelings will pass in time.
Some reactions you may experience:
- shock and disbelief
- sense of violation
- anger and frustration
- fear
- suspicion
- stress and sleeplessness
- guilt
- nervousness
- over-indulgence (eating, smoking, drinking)
What can you do about it?
Don't keep it inside. One of the most effective coping strategies is to talk it out. Talk to family, friends or relatives.
