The Edmonton Police Service is committed to community needs and community policing and has units and programs specifically dedicated to this. They are the purest form of community relations for the EPS.
The Chief’s Community Advisory Council was developed in 2004 to engage the Edmonton Police Service and Edmontonians in a proactive dialogue centered on developing mutual trust, information sharing and relationship building.
EPS has developed numerous community-focused initiatives, units, and partnerships to build strong relationships with our city's diverse communities. These bonds allow all communities to teach us about their experiences and their cultures, which allows us to better serve and protect our city.
Street Legal and the Ceremonial Units; Guard of Honour, Historic Unit, and Pipes and Drums; are dedicated to promoting professionalism and tradition. All are highly visible in the community and attend many community events on an annual basis.
Citizen's Police Academy is an EPS initiative, which enhances partnerships and increases communication, much like the Ceremonial Units and Street Legal.
