At approximately 7:20 a.m. on Dec. 25, 2019, it was reported that shots were fired in the area of 117 Street and 107 Avenue. A 28-year-old male victim was found outside the apartment building.
EMS responded to the scene and the victim was treated by paramedics but passed away shortly after. Persons were observed leaving the scene in vehicles.
The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office subsequently determined that Abdinasir Abdullahi Shire, 28, died from gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.
Homicide detectives have since identified Fahiye Ahmed, 38, as the accused in this shooting death and a province-wide warrant for second degree murder has been issued for his arrest. A photo of Ahmed is included below.
