Police investigating 20th fatal collision

For Immediate Release: 17-Jul-2025 @ 11:26 AM
MRU #: TR25029

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating the 20th fatal collision of 2025.

On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at approximately 10:50 p.m., police responded to the report of a collision involving a motorcycle in the area of Highway 2 and Highway 19.

It was reported to police that a motorcycle and a car were travelling through an industrial park. Police were told that the motorcycle was travelling at a high rate of speed before it collided with a concrete barrier. EMS responded and pronounced the 40-year-old male motorcycle rider deceased on scene. The driver of the car was uninjured and not involved in the collision.

“The unfortunate reality is that 20 individuals have died on our streets this year alone,” says Interim Chief Devin Laforce. “These are our friends, our family, our coworkers. The EPS is focusing significant resources on traffic safety measures, including education campaigns, to remind Edmontonians that speeding on our roadways is not without immense risk and potentially tragic outcomes. Our sincere condolences go out to this man’s friends and family during this difficult time.”

Major Collision Investigation Section is investigating.
