Man dies after central Edmonton assault

Police are investigating the death of a 55-year-old man that took place in central Edmonton last week.

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police were called to an assault that took place near 109 Street and 100 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious 55-year-old man. The man was treated and transported to hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries.

Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Sadly, Arvi Singh Sagoo succumbed to his injuries on Friday, October 24, 2025. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, with the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Homicide Unit continues to investigate, and additional charges related to Sagoo’s death are pending.

Both men were not known to each other.

Kyle Papin’s next court appearance will be on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
