Autopsy complete; police investigating northwest Edmonton homicide

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating the death of a 28-year-old man that took place in northwest Edmonton this past weekend.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police were doing a check on welfare at a residence in the area of 157 Avenue and 130 A Street. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male in what appeared to be suspicious circumstances.

Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation. The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, and determined that Ermiya Zerzghi, 28, died of blunt head injuries and neck compression and the manner of death is homicide.
