On April 19, 2026, around 9:00 a.m., Northeast Branch patrol officers responded to the report of an assault at a bus shelter in the area of McConachie Boulevard and 64 Street. A 66-year-old female had been approached by two young males, one had a fire extinguisher and discharged it, covering the senior and the bus shelter with powder before fleeing westbound. EMS attended and treated the senior who was released on scene.
Through tips from the public, investigators were able to identify two 13-year-old males who were subsequently arrested and charged. Further investigations revealed that either one or both males were involved in four different incidents: one male faces charges including assault with a weapon, housebreaking with intent, mischief under $5,000 and theft under $5,000, while the other male faces charges of theft under $5000 and assault with a weapon.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their assistance in this matter,” says Const. Arthur Rekshta of the EPS Northeast Division. “The tips we received allowed us to identify suspects and also link them to other events that were still under investigation.”
