Police seek public's help after attempted child luring in southwest Edmonton

For Immediate Release: 18-Jun-2026 @ 3:49 PM
MRU #: 26R057

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is asking the public for help after two 14-year-olds were approached by multiple males in the city's southwest earlier this week.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, police were called to the area of 18A Avenue SW and Rutherford Road SW. It was reported to police that two 14-year-old girls were walking in the neighbourhood when they were followed and then approached by several males in a grey Chrysler Pacifica van.

The males reportedly began shouting at the girls and attempted to lure them into the vehicle while driving erratically with the side door open. The girls ran away, and a passerby called 911.

The suspect vehicle was last seen travelling northbound on Rutherford Road and later near James Mowatt Trail and 17 Avenue. It is described as a grey Chrysler Pacifica with heavily tinted windows. The five to six males inside the van were around 30 to 40 years old.

Investigators also believe a second, silver vehicle may have been involved and have identified a person of interest pictured below.
