Church deacon charged with sexual assault

Investigators believe there may be additional complainants

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 48-year-old male with sexual assault and sexual interference in relation to a November 2025 incident.

At the time of the incident, the male was a deacon at a church near 121 Avenue and 103 Street.

Frezghi Zerezghi, 48, was arrested on Dec. 12, 2025, and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. Zerezghi was released on an undertaking.

Police have reason to believe he may have offended against other victims and are encouraging them to come forward.
