MRU #: 26R048

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has seized more than $8 million in drugs following a national drug trafficking investigation in partnership with the Winnipeg Police Service and Parkland RCMP.

In May 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) began an investigation into reports of drug trafficking in Winnipeg, Man. This two-year long investigation involved many law enforcement agencies including the EPS, RCMP and Ontario Provincial Police. The WPS has issued a media release about their investigation and subsequent 33 arrests here.

In February 2026, EPS and Parkland RCMP launched a joint drug trafficking investigation tied to shared intelligence and findings from the WPS investigation.

Following this investigation, a search warrant was executed on April 16, 2026, in the area of 109 Street and Jasper Avenue. The EPS seized:

  • Approximately 80 kilograms of cocaine (approximate street value of $8 million)
  • Approximately 176 grams of methamphetamine (approximate street value of $1,500)
  • Approximately 50 pounds of a buffing agent (approximate street value of $90,000)
  • A firearm and ammunition
  • Approximately $30,000 in cash

Drugs seized

Kreston David, 26, was subsequently arrested and is facing charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking (x5), unauthorized possession of the prohibited/restricted firearm and proceeds of crime. At this time, the EPS is not looking for additional suspects.

“We’re pleased our partners at the Winnipeg Police Service brought their large-scale investigation to a successful conclusion, and that EPS officers were able to locate and arrest a suspect in Edmonton found with more than 80 kilograms of drugs,” says S/Sgt. Jen McCann of the EPS Edmonton Drug and Gang Enforcement (EDGE) Unit. “Strong partnerships and intelligence sharing are essential to disrupting drug trafficking across the country.”
