Police conclude investigation in northwest Edmonton homicide

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has concluded its investigation into the death of a 28-year-old man that took place in northwest Edmonton.

On Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police were doing a check on welfare at a residence in the area of 157 Avenue and 130A Street. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased male in what appeared to be suspicious circumstances.

Homicide Section took over the investigation. The Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, and determined that Ermiya Zerzghi, 28, died of blunt head and neck trauma and the manner of death was homicide.

No charges are being laid in relation to the homicide, as the suspect has since died.

Homicide detectives are not seeking any additional suspects.
