On Monday, July 13, 2026, at approximately 12:30 pm, a 15-year-old boy was riding his bicycle westbound on Desrochers Boulevard SW when he crossed Desrochers Drive SW at the marked crosswalk on the north side of the intersection. A vehicle travelling southbound on Desrochers Drive SW at a high rate of speed failed to stop for the stop sign and struck the cyclist. The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, continuing southbound on Desrochers Drive SW then onto west 41 Avenue SW. The youth was transported to hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect vehicle appears to be a light silver four-door sedan, possibly an older Volkswagen with potential front-end damage, as depicted below.

“The complete disregard shown by the driver of this vehicle after striking this child is appalling,” says Staff Sergeant David Crisp of EPS Southwest Branch. “I am hoping that someone can contact police with information about this incident so we can hold the driver of this vehicle accountable.”
