MRU #: TR24020-2

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) located the 2017 blue Mazda 3 sedan that was involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that took the life of a 13-year-old youth in southeast Edmonton last year.

At approximately 4:05 a.m. on May 29, 2024, Southeast Branch patrol officers were called to assist EMS regarding a hit-and-run collision involving a young cyclist and a vehicle at 48 Street and 34 Avenue. EMS treated the male youth on scene; however, he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) took over the investigation.

Police issued a media release about this fatal collision on May 29, 2024. Subsequently, a second media release was issued on July 2, 2025, after police released video footage of the suspect vehicle as well as a plea for additional tips from the public.

Thanks to tips from the public, police have since located the suspect vehicle at a repair shop in Edmonton. For investigative purposes, the time and location of the vehicle’s recovery is not being shared at this time. When the suspect 2017 blue Mazda 3 was located, repairs and alterations had not been made to the vehicle, as pictured below.
