The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a fatal vehicle collision that occurred in central Edmonton Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m. it was reported to police that an Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) truck was travelling northbound on 101 Street when it was struck by a Kia Sedona minivan that was travelling eastbound on Kingsway Avenue and had entered the intersection on a red light.

The driver of the fire truck was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the 44-year-old male driver of the minivan was transported to hospital by EMS where he succumbed to his injuries.

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) is leading the investigation. Investigators believe speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
