For Immediate Release: 02-Aug-2025 @ 10:16 AM
MRU #: TR25034

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a fatal collision that happened on Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2025, a 60-year-old male was walking north on the curb, parallel to the southbound lanes of 50 Street near 40 Avenue. At the same time, a Toyota Tundra operated by a 39-year-old male was travelling southbound in the curb lane along 50 Street. It was reported to police that the pedestrian suddenly stepped into the southbound lane and was struck by the Toyota.

EPS patrol officers and EMS attempted lifesaving measures on the scene. EMS transported the injured male to hospital, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured and remained on scene. Neither speed nor alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision. EPS Major Collisions Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate. No charges have been laid at this time.
