Police investigating fatal motorcycle collision

For Immediate Release: 31-Jul-2025 @ 12:54 PM
MRU #: TR25032

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating yet another fatal collision on city streets.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., police responded to the report of a collision in the area of 82 Street and 167 Avenue.

It was reported to police that a Nissan-Versa operated by a 40-year-old male was northbound, stopped at a green light and waiting to turn left. At the same time, a Suzuki GSXR600, operated by a 25-year-old male, was travelling southbound on 82 Street. The motorcyclist struck the front passenger side wheel of the Nissan as the rider entered the intersection. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike.

Witnesses of the collision attempted CPR on the 25-year-old until they were relieved by Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, shortly followed by EMS. Sadly, EMS pronounced the rider deceased on scene.

The driver of the Nissan was treated and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Major Collision Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating. Speed is believed to be a factor.

This marks the 21st fatal collision of the year.

“This is the 21st life lost on our roads this year. Behind every number is a family changed forever,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Kam Patel from MCIS. “These collisions don’t just impact families, they leave a mark on those who respond to them. We want to thank the witnesses who stepped in to perform CPR, and the first responders who did everything they could on the scene.”
