Police investigating fatal collision in central Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in central Edmonton yesterday evening.

Around 9:39 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, police were called to the area of 106 Avenue and 75 Street. Officers determined a 78-year-old male motorist was travelling eastbound on 106 Avenue. It was reported that the driver lost control of his 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan, swerved across westbound lanes of the avenue and went over a curb before colliding with a traffic light just before 75 Street.

Witnesses attempted to provide first-aid to the male driver before EMS responded and transported him to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was later declared deceased. At the time of the collision, the driver of the Volkswagen is believed to have experienced a medical episode. No other injuries have been reported to police.

 EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate.
