For Immediate Release: 23-Aug-2025 @ 12:07 PM
MRU #: TR25039

Edmonton Police Service Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred yesterday.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, at approximately 2 p.m., a 65-year-old female was walking eastbound on the north sidewalk of Edgemont Boulevard and crossing Edgemont Way with her 11-year-old grandson on a pedal bike. At the same time, a Ford F350 operated by a 38-year-old male attempted to turn left onto Edgemont Way and struck the female pedestrian.

EMS transported the female to hospital where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. No other injuries were reported. The driver of the Ford remained on scene. Neither speed nor alcohol are believed to be factors in the collision.

“Our hearts go out to the family, and to everyone who witnessed this devastating event,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Duane Bateman from MCIS. “We’re especially grateful to the bystanders who stepped in to help, and to our first responders who responded with compassion and care.”

The EPS Crime and Trauma-Informed Support Services (CTSS) have been in contact with the woman’s family to offer support.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
