Police investigating fatal collision involving a child

For Immediate Release: 03-Nov-2025 @ 6:00 PM
MRU #: TR25053

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a fatal collision involving a child that occurred in the city’s northwest.

Around 10 a.m., a 25-year-old female driver of a Jeep Cherokee was coming out of the parking lot of a residential complex in the McConachie neighbourhood. At that same time, a five-year-old male child was running eastbound on the sidewalk and fell. The Jeep struck the child, and the driver immediately called 9-1-1.

The child was transported to hospital and was later pronounced deceased.

The EPS Major Collisions Investigation Section (MCIS) is investigating and does not believe speed or alcohol was a factor in this collision.

Additionally, EPS’s Crime and Trauma Support Section (CTSS) attended the scene to provide support.

Anyone with any information about this or any other crime is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250
