Charge laid in 2023 homicide

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged a 50-year-old man with second degree murder in relation to a 2023 homicide in Southwest Edmonton.

On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., police responded to the report of a weapons complaint in an apartment building in the area of 106 Street and 80 Avenue. Upon arrival a male was located with serious, life-threatening injuries. EMS responded but the male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Later that month, the Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed Jordan McDonald, 33, died as a result of a homicide. The cause of death was a gunshot wound. 

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Sean Broadley, 50, was arrested and charged with second degree murder. The victim and accused were not known to one another.
