Police seeking assistance from public with arson investigation

For Immediate Release: 22-May-2026 @ 2:00 PM
MRU #: AR26001

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance with an arson that occurred in south Edmonton.

On March 19, 2026, at approximately 11:50 a.m., police were contacted by members of Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) following their response to a fire at a residence under construction in the area of 108 Street and 85 Avenue. The home was destroyed.

EFRS has since determined the fire was deliberately set. No one was injured as a result of the fire; however, there was significant damage to neighbouring homes as well as several parked vehicles in the area. At this time, police do not believe this fire is linked to any other infill fires or extortion series. Damages to the under-construction home are currently estimated to be over $1 million.

After reviewing video from the area, police have footage of a person of interest they are hoping to speak with and are seeking the public’s assistance to identify them. Images of the individual are included below.
