Police lay charges in 2021 homicide

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has laid charges in relation to the death of a man that took place in central Edmonton in 2021.

At approximately 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Downtown Branch officers responded to the report of a deceased male found in the area of 93 Street and 105 Avenue.

On Friday, May 14, 2021, the Edmonton Medical Examiner completed an autopsy on Allan Freed, 55. The cause of death was blood loss as a result of stab wounds and the manner of death was homicide.

Following a complex and lengthy investigation, EPS Homicide Section has charged both Daniel John Sunday, 44, and Ashley Dawn Dion, 33, with second degree murder in relation to Freed’s death. Both accused have been remanded.

Police are not looking for any additional suspects.
