In January 2026, police became aware of possible drug trafficking taking place at a home in the area of Woodvale Rd and 38 Avenue. Following a month-long investigation, a search warrant was executed on the residence and police seized:
- 301 grams of fentanyl (approximate street value of $45,300)
- 8.5 grams of crack cocaine (approximate street value of $720)
- 979 grams of methamphetamine (approximate street value of $58,800)
- 1.63 litres of GHB (approximate street value of $1,630)
- More than 200 other assorted pills, including Tylenol 3s, winstrol, primboloan and clenbuterol
- Two vials of testosterone
- A 9 millimetre handgun
- Approximately $4,600 in cash

Drugs seized
Mitchele Ernest Zorget, 46, was subsequently arrested and is facing charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with several firearms related offences.
“Residences like these not only greatly impact the perception of safety in neighborhoods, they often target the community’s most vulnerable,” says Staff Sergeant Ahmed Alkarout with EPS Northeast BEATs. “As the EPS continues to work to curb drug use and disorder across the city, the hard work of our Northeast BEATs team will certainly have positive impacts on safety in the Woodvale neighborhood.”
