The violations were issued over a 24-hour period throughout September 3, 2026. Of the total traffic violations:
- 181 were for speeding
- 7 were for distracted driving
- 108 were hazardous moving violations
- 166 were non-hazardous Traffic Safety Act infractions (e.g. equipment or document related)
- 87 were automated red light violations
In addition, four Criminal Code driving charges and two other criminal code charges were laid as a result of vehicle stops during this time.
One vehicle was recorded doing 101 km/hr in a 50 km/hr construction zone at 142 Street and Yellowhead Trail. The operator was issued a mandatory court summons.
“These results show that dangerous driving behaviors remain a serious issue in Edmonton,” says Staff Sergeant Mike Wasylyshen, with the EPS’ Specialized Traffic Section. “With students back at school this month, now is the time for drivers to slow down, stay alert and make safer choices.”
