At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Oct. 1, 2025, police responded to reports of a robbery and stabbing at a transit station in the area of 90 Avenue and 175 Street. The attack occurred when the accused approached two males waiting at the station and demanded their cell phones. When the two men refused, one of the suspects stabbed both men and robbed them of their cell phones before all three suspects, two males and one female, fled the scene on bicycles in an unknown direction. Both male victims, 24 and 45- years-old, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and have since been released.
“Thanks to the swift action of our Operations and Intelligence Command Centre (OICC), in coordination with Edmonton Transit, the Stony Plain Road BEATS team, and West Division patrol officers, all three suspects were identified within hours and in custody within 24 hours,” said Detective Aaron Sauve of the EPS. “This was an outstanding multi-branch response and a strong example of the great work our officers and partners do on the ground every day to make transit, and our city, safer.”
On Oct. 2, 2025, all three accused were arrested along the Stony Plain Road corridor in West Division. They are well known to police.
Kalend Edwards, 31, Tristan Niastus, 28, and Jessalyn Edwards, 28, have all been charged with robbery and aggravated assault.
