The violations were issued over a 24-hour period throughout Thursday, May 14, 2026. Of the total traffic violations:

- 26 were for distracted driving
- 153 were hazardous moving violations
- 267 were non-hazardous Traffic Safety Act infractions (e.g. equipment or document related)
- 63 were automated red light violations
In addition, three criminal code driving charges and six other criminal code charges were laid as a result of vehicle stops during this time.
One vehicle was recorded doing 162 km/hr in a 60 zone at 142 Street and 162 Avenue. The operator was issued a mandatory court summons.
“These numbers show that high-risk driving behaviours are still far too common in our city,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Dave Beattie, Specialized Traffic Section. “When someone is travelling at 162 km/hr in a 60 zone, that’s not a mistake, that’s a choice. We’ll continue to enforce, educate, and work with the City of Edmonton to address these unsafe driver behaviours on our roads.”
