The Edmonton Police Service (EPS), in partnership with the City of Edmonton's automated enforcement program, issued 755 traffic violations during Operation 24 Hours on Friday, October 10, 2025.

The 24-hour enforcement blitz targeted high-risk behaviours on Edmonton roadways. Of the total violations:

  • 25 for distracted driving
  • 85 hazardous moving violations
  • 247 non-hazardous Traffic Safety Act violations (e.g., equipment or document-related)

  • 5 other Criminal Code charges
  • 141 automated red-light violations

In addition, 222 warnings were issued by officers for various infractions.

“It only takes one bad decision to cause tragedy on our roads,” said Staff Sergeant Robert Davis, Edmonton Police Service Traffic Section. “Our members are out every day working to prevent those tragedies. Operation 24 Hours reinforces our commitment to holding unsafe drivers accountable and encouraging safer choices behind the wheel.”

Notable Incident
A male driver was observed by Air1 traveling at high speeds, running multiple stop signs, and nearly causing a collision. The vehicle was boxed in by patrol officers downtown and taken into custody. Officers found a half-full bottle of vodka in the vehicle, and breath samples confirmed blood alcohol levels over the legal limit. The vehicle was seized for 30 days. The man, who had prior impaired driving charges, was released on an appearance notice.
