Police determine suspicious fire at playground was arson

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has determined a suspicious fire at a local playground was arson and seek the public’s continued support in the investigation.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, around 8 a.m., EPS and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) responded to a suspicious fire in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street, at a playground adjacent to St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School. The playground was severely damaged and will remain closed until further notice.

Anyone with dash camera or security camera footage from the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street between 7 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, are asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
