Man charged in southwest Edmonton homicide

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged one man in a death that took place in southwest Edmonton yesterday.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at approximately 1 p.m., police responded to a suspicious person complaint in the area of 121 Street and 35 Avenue SW. Upon arrival, officers encountered a 27-year-old male who was acting suspiciously. As the officers investigated, they located a deceased adult male in a garage nearby.

The 27-year-old male was placed under arrest and EPS Homicide Section took over the investigation.

An autopsy was completed today, Thursday, June 19, 2025, on the victim, identified as Sugeng Pariono, 65. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma, and the manner of death was homicide.

Oleksii Iskra, the 27-year-old male who was arrested at the scene, has been charged with second degree murder.

The accused and the victim were not known to one another.
