On April 5, 2026, Northeast Branch patrol officers were called about shots fired near a schoolyard in the area of 133 Avenue and Clareview Rd at approximately 4 a.m. It was reported to police that one shot struck a nearby home, entering a bedroom and narrowly missing a young child who was sleeping at the time. Police do not believe the residence was targeted.

Investigators believe one person is responsible for firing the shots, following a brief meeting with someone in and unknown vehicle. Images of the suspect and the vehicle are included below.

“A brazen shooting in a residential neighbourhood is concerning, in particular when a child was directly in harm’s way,” says Acting Inspector Eric Stewart with the Investigations Response Teams IRT. “We’re thankful to not be reporting on more dire circumstances today and are appealing to residents for any information they may recall about a shooting that night.”
