Police press charges in playground arson; seek to locate one male

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has charged one male and is seeking to locate another male in the arson that occurred at a playground in July.

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, EPS and Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) responded to a fire in the area of 122 Avenue and 128 Street, at a playground adjacent to St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School. The fire was determined to be arson. The playground was severely damaged and will remain closed until further notice.

Rayden Bigstone, 20 has since been charged with arson causing damage to property. His next court date is Oct. 20, 2025.

A province-wide warrant has been issued for Darius Bigstone, 20, pictured below, who is currently at large and is also wanted on a charge of arson causing damage to property. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Bigstone.
