Police seek public's assistance identifying suspect in statue vandalism

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect who threw paint on a statue at the Faculté Saint-Jean in late September.

Police were contacted by University of Alberta Peace Officer for reports of mischief on the Campus Saint-Jean at University of Alberta that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 28, 2025. An unidentified suspect was seen on CCTV pouring paint over a statue overnight and walking away at approximately 12:13 a.m.

The suspect is described as white male with a thin build. He was seen wearing a yellow hoodie covering his head, a thin black leather jacket and black skinny jeans with grey sneakers. He also wore black gloves and appears to be in his mid-to-late 40s.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this individual or suspicious activity on or near the campus between 11 p.m. Saturday and 12:30 a.m. Sunday, September 28, 2025, to please contact them immediately.
