Police investigating suspicious death in northeast Edmonton

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a suspicious death that took place early Sunday morning in northeast Edmonton.

Police were called at approximately 6:50 a.m., on Sunday, August 16, 2026, for reports of a shooting near 139 Avenue and 32 Street. Upon arrival, officers located a seriously injured 16-year-old female. The officers began administering first aid but unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased upon EMS arrival.

The EPS Homicide Section has since taken over the investigation and is treating the death as suspicious.

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
