Between Sept. 8 and Oct. 4 of this year, police responded to four individual reports of robberies at vape stores across the city and one reported arson. Police believe that the owners of these businesses are unknown to one another.
During two robberies that occurred in the area of 151 Avenue and 121 Street on Sept. 8 and the area of 146 Avenue and 50 Street on Sept. 17, it was reported that two masked male suspects approached the businesses and stole cash and vape products using firearms.
On Sept. 22, it was reported to police that two masked males drove a vehicle through the storefront and started a fire at the vape store that was previously robbed on Sept. 8.
Additionally, it was reported to police that two masked males armed with firearms stole cash and safes from one store in the area of 55 Avenue and Calgary Trail on Oct. 1 and another store in the area of 51 Avenue and 104A Street on Oct. 4.
No injuries were reported to police during the robberies or the arson. It is estimated that approximately $400,000 of damage was caused by the reported storefront break and enter collision and fire damage on Sept. 22. It is also estimated that a combined total of over $10,000 of cash and vape products were stolen throughout all five incidents.
After completing their investigation, police arrested two male suspects on Oct. 6, 2025. Joshua Sweeney, 30, and Gerard Pariseau, 30, were charged with numerous criminal offences including robbery, wearing a disguise and use of a firearm during the commission of an offence.
