Police seek information related to south Edmonton fire

For Immediate Release: 17-Sep-2026 @ 9:40 AM
MRU #: 26R065

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking the public’s assistance identifying a person who was in the area of a southwest Edmonton arson that took place in late June.

On June 25, 2026, EPS Southwest Branch patrol officers were contacted by Edmonton Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) regarding a deliberately set fire at a building in the area of 82 Avenue and Gateway Blvd. Investigators have since determined that two fires were set at this location between 7:40 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., with the second fire causing extensive damage to the structure. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no neighbouring structures were impacted.

Following a review of area video, footage was captured of an unknown male around the time of both fires and investigators are hopeful someone may recognize him. Detectives are also hoping to connect with anyone who witnessed or captured additional video footage of the fires that evening.

Person in the area of the fire

Anyone with information about the fires or the male pictured is asked to call EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
