Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Homicide Section has charged an Edmonton man with manslaughter following the death of a 55-year-old man last week.

On Sunday, Oct.19, 2025, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police were called to an assault that took place near 109 Street and 100 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious 55-year-old man. The man was treated and transported to hospital by EMS with life-threatening injuries.

At the time, Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Both men were not known to one another.

Sadly, Arvi Singh Sagoo, 55, succumbed to his injuries on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy and determined that Sagoo died as a result of blunt head trauma and the manner of death was homicide.

As a result, the assault charge laid against Papin has since been upgraded to manslaughter, and police are not seeking any additional suspects.
