Edmonton Police Service (EPS) officers have seized just over $35,000 in drugs while working proactively in central Edmonton.

On Aug. 27, 2025, at about 12:18 a.m., EPS Disruption Team officers observed a suspicious vehicle in the area of 85 Street and 111 Avenue. A 2007 Ford Explorer was parked in a grass field with both front doors open, and a male and female were seen rummaging through the vehicle.

Police began to investigate and found large stacks of cash and various drug-related items visible inside the vehicle. The two subjects were taken into custody as police continued to investigate.

An additional search was undertaken where the following items were discovered:

  • 523 g methamphetamine
  • 27 g fentanyl
  • Contraband cigarettes
  • Counterfeit firearm license
  • Two sawed-off firearms
  • Ammunition, scales, knives and a collapsible baton
  • The total estimated street value of the seized drugs is $35,490

“Our officers’ vigilance during proactive enforcement kept dangerous drugs and weapons off our streets,” says Acting Staff Sgt. Curtis Maron of EPS Crime Suppression Branch. “Criminals don’t get to hide in the shadows when our officers are on the job.”
