For Immediate Release: 05-May-2026 @ 9:53 AM
MRU #: TR26008

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is seeking witnesses to an April 30 collision that later turned fatal.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thurs., April 30, 2026, a 2026 Toyota Camry operated by an 82-year-old male was exiting from westbound Whitemud Drive onto northbound 170 Street. As the Camry entered the intersection of the Whitemud off-ramp and the northbound lanes of 170 Street, it was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound 2010 Mazda 3 operated by a 29-year-old male. No injuries were reported, and the parties attended a Collision Reporting Centre on their own.

Following the collision, the condition of a 78-year-old female passenger in the Camry declined significantly at home, and on May 2, she was transported to hospital by ambulance. She died in hospital on May 3, and police were notified the following day.

The EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) has taken over the investigation, and is seeking witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone traveling in the area at the time.

Witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage related to this collision are asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone.
