Police investigating fatal pedestrian collision

For Immediate Release: 16-Nov-2025 @ 12:50 PM
MRU #: TR25056

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that took place yesterday in northeast Edmonton.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at approximately 8:57 a.m., a 2024 Nissan Rogue was travelling southbound on 82 Street and making a left-hand turn onto 153 Avenue, when it struck a female pedestrian who was crossing 153 Avenue northbound in a marked crosswalk while walking her dog.

EMS responded, treated and transported the 58-year-old female pedestrian to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Her dog ran away following the collision but was later found and returned home, unharmed, by City of Edmonton Animal Control. The 36-year-old female driver of the Rogue remained on scene and was not injured.

Sadly, the female pedestrian succumbed to her injuries in hospital late yesterday evening.

“Unfortunately, this marks Edmonton’s 30th traffic fatality of the year,” says Staff Sergeant Mike Wasylyshen of the EPS Traffic Services Branch. “Road safety impacts us all and fatalities in particular have long lasting and far-reaching effects on everyone involved. When you get the behind the wheel, slow down, remain aware of your surroundings and remember that the decisions you make can have life-altering consequences.”

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continue to investigate. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in this collision.

Anyone who witnessed or has dash camera footage of this collision, is encouraged to contact the police at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous information can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at www.p3tips.com/250.
