On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, the EPS issued a media release seeking the public’s assistance locating Scot MacDermid, and his two children, Lesley, 9 and George, 6.
Since then, investigators learned that Scot and his children were seen in Lloydminster with an unknown man on Aug. 28, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m. He has since been identified, and police have spoken with him.
On Sept. 23, 2026, Canada-wide warrants were issued for Scot MacDermid in relation to abduction in contravention of a custody order (x2).

Investigators have assessed the available evidence and determined that this investigation has not met the criteria for an AMBER alert at this time.
“An AMBER Alert is one tool available to police, but it is not the investigation itself. Finding Lesley and George remains our top priority,” says Staff Sgt. Robert Davis with the EPS Child Protection Section. “We want the community to know that we are working to locate the children safely.”
