The SOGIE Advisory Council provides advice and recommendations, guided by those who are members of sexual and gender diverse communities, to EPS on strategies, policy, planning, and service delivery to build a service that is safe and inclusive for all Edmontonians, including EPS members.
The advice and suggestions from the Council will draw upon members' lived experience and knowledge to support innovative delivery. The Council will provide advice to EPS relating to safe and inclusive policies and practices that are developed as a result of the 2SLGBTQ+ Apology, as well as future engagement efforts that may impact Edmonton’s sexual and gender diverse communities.
Meet Our Current Members
The SOGIE Advisory Council consists of community members who voices, opinions and experiences assist in shaping the policies and practices of the Edmonton Police Service. Throughout past EPS engagement initiatives, common themes of transparency and accountability have emerged as fundamental pillars to effective and meaningful change. Therefore, transparency regarding “who” is advising the EPS is equally as vital as to “what” change the EPS is implementing.
In an effort to support transparency, all public EPS councils will post names of council members on EPS platforms.
